The Ariens Company 00120500 Tiller Low Pinion enables a gear activation within the tiller drive assembly, while tooth wear, misalignment, or damage can affect power transfer.

\n

This part corrects the following symptoms:

\n

• Tiller drive feels rough during forward movement.

\n

• Pinion contact becomes uneven during cultivation.

\n

• Grinding sounds develop near the drive assembly.

\n

• Tine movement weakens under heavier soil resistance.

\n

• Gear movement becomes inconsistent during regular tilling.

\n

Uneven Gear Participation

\n

Quick Check: Rotate the drive assembly and observe pinion movement.

\n

Fix Suggestion: Correct positioning around the low pinion gear.

\n

Prevention Tip: Keep mating gear surfaces clean during maintenance.

\n

Grinding During Tilling

\n

Quick Check: Listen very closely near the lower drive shaft housing.

\n

Fix Suggestion: Address worn contact surfaces causing abnormal gear noise.

\n

Prevention Tip: Check equipment teeth frequently for visible damage.

\n

Reduced Drive Transfer

\n

Quick Check: Observe the tine response and while tilling firm soil.

\n

Fix Suggestion: Restore proper connection between linked drive gears.

\n

Prevention Tip: Avoid continued operation with noticeable gear resistance.

\n

Excessive Gear Play

\n

Quick Check: Gently move the drive assembly to check for looseness.

\n

Fix Suggestion: Correct looseness affecting the pinion gear position.

\n

Prevention Tip: Verify fastener tightness during routine tiller servicing.

\n

Customer Experience: A customer noticed quieter and smoother drive operation after replacing a worn low pinion and inspecting the mating gear during tiller maintenance.
